It was just a week ago when we had everybody over to the house and I had bought some ice cream and fresh strawberries for dessert. We were all cleaning up from our Sunday lunch meal, and getting ready for our treats, when I saw our son, Garrett, preparing the fresh strawberries.

When I first saw him with a straw, I didn’t know what it was about. Then, I quickly saw that he was using the drinking straw to remove the stem of the fresh strawberry from the inside out.

He inserted the straw through the bottom of the strawberry up the middle to the top. It not only cored the strawberry but popped the green stem right off in the process, without wasting any of the strawberry unnecessarily.

The strawberries where quickly washed, cored, de-stemmed, and completely ready to enjoy with the ice cream, just by using a straw! Who knew?

It was just a great idea, I thought I would share it with you! Enjoy!
